ROLLING THUNDER®  takes its name from Operation Rolling Thunder, the longest running but oft interrupted bombing of North Vietnamese targets that began in February of 1965 and continued until October of 1968.   Rolling Thunder was the code name of a campaign that primarily used tactical fighters in a strategic role north of the DMZ to force negoations.  Over 900 aircraft were lost, and many of the captured crewmembers did not come home.

The interests of ROLLING THUNDER® Inc., Tennessee is to further promote the Mission of ROLLING THUNDER®, Inc.    We strive to make a difference by educating our members and the public.  We try to effect not only our community, but our State and Nation as well.    Our members are urged to communicate with their local, State, and Federal governments concerning POW & MIA issues and also Veterans issues.   Our members are encouraged to take part in the annual "Ride For Freedom" in Washington, DC, and to support the planned events of their Chapter, the Tennessee Chapters, and other ROLLING THUNDER® Chapters when they can.   We hope to expand our reach by getting like-minded folks together to form ROLLING THUNDER® Chapters in their commulities.  We will never forget our POWs and MIAs !

Members of ROLLING THUNDER®Inc. are POW-MIA Activists and Veteran Advocates.  Our Volunteers provide aid and assistance to Veterans, especially Veterans who are hurting or in need.  We support the members of America's Armed Forces and their families, especially the families of killed or wounded, and American Gold Star Mothers.  Throughout the year we hold events to educate the public and to raise money to support our cause.   We also donate time and money to help Veterans and support our troops.

ROLLING THUNDER®Inc. is NOT a motorcycle club, but many of us do use motorcycles as a tool in our Mission.   Almost half of our members are NOT motorcyclists.

ROLLING THUNDER®, Inc. stands for honor, integriety, and accountability.   We will not tolerate anyone making false claims about military service.  Anyone claiming military service will have to submit a copy of their DD-214 along with their application for membership.   You do not have to submit a DD-214 copy to be a member, but if you do not, then no claims of military service will be tolerated.   We will hold anyone accountable for violating this policy by posting them to the POW Network as Phonies.    Remember, we cannot expect our Government to maintain a high standard of integriety by accounting for POWs if we cannot hold ourselves to that same standard.   Stolen Valor is unacceptable.
